Get ready for an electrifying night as Cage Warriors, Europe’s premier MMA organization, returns to Braehead Arena on Saturday, September 7th for CW 176. This action-packed event will showcase top Scottish talent and feature a thrilling $50,000 one-night PrizeFighter tournament.
Headlining the event is Scottish MMA star Chris ‘The Bad Guy’ Bungard, who makes his much-anticipated return to the cage, determined to avenge his April defeat in the same arena. The Holytown native faces off against Latvian knockout artist Artūrs Leisāns in a crucial 155lb bout.
Also on the card is Greenock’s own Reece McEwan, as he sets his sights on reclaiming the bantamweight title. McEwan will battle French submission specialist Miguel ‘Santa Muerte’ Haro in a 135lb clash. Glasgow’s undefeated Kier Harvey is set to defend his perfect Cage Warriors record against tough Welshman Rory Evans, a training partner of UFC star Jack Shore.
Adding to the excitement, the night will feature the return of the high-stakes PrizeFighter tournament. Six elite athletes will compete for a $50,000 prize, with an additional $10,000 ‘Bounty Hunter Bonus’ awarded to the first fighter who correctly predicts the round and method of their victory. The tournament winner will also earn a shot at the Cage Warriors welterweight title in a future event.
The tournament draw, held on August 14th by Sky Sports’ Matt Kabir Floyd and Cage Warriors’ commentator Brad Wharton, set up some explosive matchups. In the first semi-final, UK-based Jamaican Omiel Brown will bring his knockout power against Finnish BJJ black belt Henri Lintula. The second semi-final pits 6’4 French striker Bourama Camara against Austrian veteran Marko Kisic. Additionally, Scotland’s rising star Sean Clancy Jr will face NCAA wrestling standout Jakob Scheffel in the tournament’s reserve bout.
