Braehead Arena enjoys positive December

Braehead Arena enjoyed a bumper month of crowds after a series of events that saw over 20,000 people visiting the popular venue.

Between ice hockey games and public skating events, visitors flocked in their thousands over the month of December.

Viaplay Elite League games hosted by Glasgow Clan saw just under 16,000 come to the arena to watch the team in action, which included two sell out games during the festive period.

Scottish National League side Paisley Pirates also enjoyed good crowds in their two games that took place.

While just under 5,000 took part in public skating sessions that ran over the course of the month, totalling 44 sessions all in.

Braehead Arena’s Managing Director Gareth Chalmers spoke of his delight at the encouraging and is hopeful of more to come in 2023.

“It’s certainly been a busy December for the arena that was reflected by the excellent numbers of visitors we welcomed over that time;” he said.

“Ice hockey and ice skating are very popular pastimes in this part of Scotland and it was great to see so many people come along and enjoy the facilities and the games that were put on.

“We want to thank everyone who came to Braehead Arena and we appreciate the numbers that visited us.

“The events we have lined up in 2023 promises to attract many more visitors and we look forward to seeing everyone come along, no matter the event.”
